SCSH 1201: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: ISSUES, PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES
SEMESTER 1, 2022/2023 (SECTION 802)
Food security can be defined as access to quality and nutritious food. Nowadays, people around the world are having difficulty getting enough food because of a few factors like wars and financial problems. Thereby, people will experience an increase in price due to its limited quantity. This will also contribute to many chronic illnesses like anaemia, gastric, asthma and many more.
This also happens in our country as a result of the Ukraine-Russia war. Many countries have restricted their food exports to our country. The most affected users are food sellers because they will struggle to maintain the price of their food. When suppliers increase the price of supply, it leaves sellers with no choice but to do the same thing to sustain their business. As a result, most students have to starve themselves because they can’t afford to buy the food at the cafe.
To sum up, I hope many universities can provide coupons to students in need to lift their burdens. As for the government, I hope they can regulate the rise in the price of goods in our country. Although we have nothing to do with those countries, when war happens, this will affect inflation and economic growth around the world.
